More Sean Portraits

The goal of this assignment was to create an “environmental portrait.” In other words, a portrait of someone in an environment other than a studio, preferably in their natural environment.

After an hour or so attempting to come up with a good photo of my girlfriend, being frustrated with my inability to get a good picture, and a decent walk home, I called my friend Sean up and asked him if he could meet up with me so we could attempt to get a good picture or two. Thanks to Sean’s impeccable improvisational ability, I was able to get several unique pictures out of a few dozen shots. I wasn’t really sure which picture I wanted to use at first, but decided to turn in the picture of Sean hiding for the assignment. My instructor recommended cropping in more closely, leaving a great deal of the picture out and putting Sean’s eyes on the top third division line. I decided it took away much of the charm and left it how you see it now.

Despite that, I still had to show the other portrait, just because I liked the way it turned out.

I concur with your selection. While I like some of the other pics you took as well, These have a good deal of presence and expression. And thanks for the compliments. :)
